'Twas a brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe...Il briligue: les toves lubricilleux
Se gyrem em vrillant dans le guave
An excerpt from Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll, first in English then in French. A lot is going on when we translate poetry from one language to another- we must find some kind of equivalent form of the words in a new language, even if they are nonsense words like slithy. In a French person's head, Frank L. Warrin thinks lubricilleux triggers the same kind of thoughts as slithy does to me. In mathematical terms we could say Warrin has found an isomorphism from French words to English words, a mapping which preserves the important details- defined even for nonsense words.
