Anonymous - Press Release 4/21/2011

#OpDarknet

For reasons unknown, most vpns, Tor, and now I2P users have been prevented from accessing the irc servers at irc.anonops.ru, the only option left is to connect to these US (and friendly countries) based IRC servers using your own internet connection with little in the way of privacy. Vhosts and SSL do little to help--since both the anonops servers AND your internet service provider know that you, from this IP, are connecting to anonops.

I2P, or the Invisible Internet Project, is a secure, encrypted, tunnel-based darknet used to maintain anonymity while hosting or connecting to online services. Created anonymously for the sake of the anonymity of others, this is a great alternative to a centralized system.

If you care about your anonymity and security, you will stop using your IP as a member of anonymous. Download I2P, get a new nick, and start over. Conversely, If you do not care about your anonymity and security, stay on anonops.ru, keep using loic, and potentially enjoy your time in prison.

Moreover, with I2P, you can create your own IRC channels and Ops--there is no censorship, and no authority. With the ability to create your own channels and attract anons to your ideas, you will once again, see the beloved agency return to you.

Now is the time.

Learn more here: http://www.i2p2.de/
Download I2P here: http://www.i2p2.de/download
Follow instructions and soon you will be connected through I2P, completely secure and encrypted. Just connect your IRC client to 127.0.0.1:6668 and you're on board
#anonops, #opdarknet, #anonportal and #i2phelp are some channels you may like to visit once you are.

I2P is Anonymous.

We Are Legion.

We Do Not Forgive.

We Do Not Forget.

Expect US.

RESPONSE / CENSORSHIP :

Some elaboration from the site administrator on this "press release".

I have been talking to some people from I2P, and we agreed that I would work on getting the I2P relay bot back on the network after finishing the update to AnonNews. However, apparently the I2P users decided later on that this was not quick enough for them, and kept pushing me to release a press release accusing AnonOps opers of keeping out I2P users on purpose - DESPITE an earlier agreement that they would not publish this press release until I would try to get the I2P relay bot back onto the network. After I notified them that the PR would not yet be approved as it was not time-sensitive (a rule that goes for everyone at this moment, and that INCLUDES the I2P users), these users went out to spread the not-yet-visible PR submission by themselves by guessing the PR ID and spamming it through the IRC network. I have then removed their PR and included a warning to not do this again, or I would not do any effort to get I2P back onto the network. Apparently that message was still not clear enough.

Congratulations, you blew it. Handle your shit yourself. You are apparently not mature enough to wait for me to have the time to fix things. You can forget about me fixing your I2P relay, that is for sure.

EDIT: Also, congratulations, your I2P PR is now permanently BANNED from AnonNews.

Is AnonNews content really "censorship-free"?

What ever happened to this press release?
That's probably not censorship, after all, mods approve blank press releases all the time.

Actually, what was there was a newer version of this PR. However the image was very large, so they must have deleted it because of the huge image. Maybe that one was reasonable, maybe they want to keep them limited to a certain size for storage concerns or something.

Hmm, but what about other press releases with massive images, like this one and this one?
Later, the i2peeps posted the finalized version of the press release, here Wait, where did it go? It seems to have been deleted and replaced with one of the mods dangling the "privilege" of an IRC relay with the anonops.ru IRC. What was in it?

Here is where you may find the original text. It's rather ironic that the professional, unthreatening press release was deleted while the early, angry, and finger-pointing original was left up.
I could go on, but why bother? Evidence of censorship is found in minutes. Can anyone explain how this could in any way not be censorship?
