This is a 1998 Ford Mustang GT convertible finished in Silver metallic clear coat with a black top and black leather interior. It's powered by a 225 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque 4.6L V8 engine known for it's high power output, good economy and inherent smoothness. For the 1998 model year it has received a 10 HP increase over last year thanks to a better flowing exhaust system. This engine features two chain driven overhead cams with hydraulic lifters for smooth running and low maintenance, distributorless ignition for all weather reliability and multiport fuel injection for maximum power. Introduced in 1991 for Lincoln, this 4.6L modular engine has proven to be one of Fords most durable and versatile power plants ever made. It has served reliably in luxury cars, sports cars, police cars, vans, SUV's and full size trucks.

The engine is mated to an automatic transmission with overdrive. It has a low first gear that provides brisk acceleration off the line, while the high overdrive top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent fuel economy for such a powerful car. When driven with restraint, you can expect mid 20's mpg on the highway. That's something most other V8 powered sports cars only dream about. And it runs great on just regular gas! Finishing off the drivetrain is a Traction-Loc limited slip rear end to make sure every one of those horses gets put to the pavement.

While the Mustang GT is quick, 0 to 60 mph in the six seconds range, it's by no means one dimensional in overall performance. Rounding out the GT is a steering and suspension made to carve up twisting roads and brakes that perform in the most demanding situations. Start with a fast ratio power rack and pinion steering for quick maneuvering on winding roads, add a front independent strut suspension with sport-ride coil springs and a thick anti-roll bar for flat cornering, then end with a live axle multi-link rear suspension with anti-roll bar to transfer all that power to the road. To confidently rein in all that power, the Mustang GT has equally powerful brakes. Large diameter heavy-duty discs all around provide fade-free stopping from all speeds while the anti-lock function helps maintain control during emergency situations.

This Mustang GT is fully equipped with all the desirable standard safety, comfort and convenience features and optional equipment listed below:

And many more items too numerous to mention.

The body is in overall very good condition with just the usual minor nicks and dings you would expect on a 14 year old car. The only issue to note is a shallow crease on the left quarter panel above the wheel well. There is no damage to the paint and it doesn't stand out enough to have warranted fixing it. The paint itself is beautiful and shiny and this shade of silver just about glows in the sunlight. It has just been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar's Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar's Ultimate Synthetic wax for a high gloss shine. Even both the front and also the backsides of the wheels have been cleaned and waxed! How obsessed is that? Ditto for the polished stainless steel exhaust tips:

The bumpers, front and rear are exceptionally nice with hardly a visible blemish, and you would have to walk around the car twice to notice any parking lot door dings. The top is in good condition and has many years of useful life left. The seams at the upper rear corners tend to separate on these models and it has been professionally sealed with urethane sealant. Even after 24 hours of soaking rain, the boot well and carpets are bone dry in this car. The top has been coated with Por-Glo® vinyl preservative for a lasting shine. I checked the car out top to bottom and found no evidence that is was ever wrecked. In fact, it still has the original VIN stickers on all body panels. Remember, it's hard enough to find a 30,000 mile two or three year old vehicle that hasn't had at least a fender-bender requiring a bumper, hood or fender to be replaced, let alone an over 10 year old car over with over 100,000 miles like this one.

The interior is in good condition as well with nice upholstery, carpet, dash, door panels and headliner. The front seats have the usual character lines in the leather that all hides exhibit after 5 to 10 years while the rear seat looks like it was never sat on. The leather has been treated with Lexol conditioner and preservative and the interior vinyl and hard plastics with Meguiar's Hyper Dressing for maximum UV protection. The carpet has no stains or dirt and shows very little wear, and the dash and door panels also are absent of significant cracks or blemishes. The car doesn't appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it's not even equipped with a lighter. The engine compartment is very clean and has been fully detailed while the trunk looks like it was hardly ever used.

Mechanically it runs and drives great as well. The engine pulls strong and feels smooth both at idle, while accelerating and throughout the cruising range and the transmission shifts like it's supposed to. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping, and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. It has a matching set of four Kumho Ecsta AST tires size 245/45R17 with excellent tread. These are high performance tires with an all-season tread design that combine extended wear with enhanced traction and handling, a smooth comfortable ride and long tread life along with exotic good looks. These tires have a long treadwear rating of 400 so you should easily go another 30,000 to 40,000 miles before shopping for tires. They have been balanced with coated stick-on balance weights mounted on the inside of the wheels for a super clean look. These weights won't corrode and turn ugly like cheap uncoated weights. Also, all the adhesive residue of the old balance weights have been removed.

The car has been fully checked out and serviced with over $2,700 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Ford, Motorcraft or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Overall this is a super sharp car that looks fantastic in this silver color. 1998 was the last year of the classic redesigned bodystyle introduced in 1994, with its smooth curves and fluid lines. If you prefer this style to the next generation's sharp angles and straight lines, than this car may just have your name on it. The only modifications on the car are the mufflers, which appear to be Flowmaster 40 series.

Hosting provided by FotoTime

These mufflers are maybe one or two out of five, levels louder that stock so they provide a nice mellow powerful sound, without beating you up on long drives. So other than the mufflers, this Mustang is bone stock unlike many of these GT's that are extensively modified with sometimes questionable mods, both in terms of quality and taste. Whether you like your car all original like this one is, or like to modify it correctly, this car is the blank canvas you can start with knowing you won’t have to correct another persons mistakes or poor taste.

It's a two owner car from central Virginia which is probably why it's so clean and the last owner has had it since the car had just 19,000 miles. CLICK HERE to see the title. The cost new of this loaded GT convertible was nearly $28,000. CLICK HERE to see the original pricing, but because it was a hot model, most dealers were adding additional market adjustment markups (read rip off), so with tax, title and tags, the original owner spent well over $30,000 to buy it.

The Kelly Blue Book value for the car is over $7,500. CLICK HERE to see the Blue Book. I have the price at over $1,500 below that.

If you are serious about buying a fully serviced Mustang GT convertible, this is about as low as they go. Remember, you can get a great deal online with prices sometimes way below retail, but nobody is going to "steal" a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. And sure, you can get them cheaper, but you get what you pay for. When comparing prices, remember the things that you won't have to spend money on. With this car you won't have to spend $600 for a new set of tires, you won't have to spend $300 on a complete front brake service, you won't have to spend $300 on a complete rear brake service, you won't have to spend $300 on a coolant and transmission service, you won't have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service and you won't have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance.

Car is located outside Washington DC. Can deliver for expenses. atikovi@email.com
