What could we all agree upon? What do we all have in common?
Even though all our culture and philosophy stems from this concept, we could risk saying that it is anonymity itself. In a world of seven billion different human beings, if we ought to to agree on something, more specifically regarding Anonymous, first we must understand what it means:
Anonymous was born as an Internet meme, a joke among the users of the imageboard called 4chan, as a satyre of anonymity, the memory and the anarchical nature of the Internet. Time passed, and that idea has evolved into a borderless culture. Forget anything you heard or anyone told you. For being part of Anonymous you don't need a great deal of knowledge about computers or being a hacker. What matters only are ideas, commitment and lulz.
Anonymous does not forgive nor forget. That basically means that in the face of any attempts of censorship there will always be free and conscious people that will make sure to give information the necessary circulation. A funny example of such extreme is the so called Streisand Effect. Barbara Streisand complained that her house was visible on Google Maps. No one cared until that moment, but since then everyone knows where she lives.
The fact that Anonymous is a satire, or was born as a joke of a given website, does not mean that everything it does is a joke. Anonymous undertakes very important tasks. In fact, Internet is much more important than what you could possibly imagine. When there is a threat against freedom on the Internet, we do not stop until we finish with it, because the culture and freedom that built it, is our cradle and home. Anonymous "is everyone and no one, it is everywhere and nowhere". We take the lulz wherever we may go, wherever we act. When you receive news of our actions, when you read our messages, we would like you to think for yourself and be unable to contain your laughter.
If we trully develop a collective consciousness (HiveMind) we must also understand what it means and agree upon it since, in reality, all our cultural knowledge, all of what we do, comes from that sole reference point. Anonymous, as it was conceived, only exists within the collective essence. It is formed by countless free individuals, but we only understand it in plural. What unites us is precisely that essence of human freedom, nonconformity, the strive for constant evolution, the necessity of of an active and wiser society, that is just and uses it's tools to create and not to enslave the weakest. The sharing and circulation of culture is the base that drives us to go in depth into Anonymous, and its what makes us united as one.
Anonymous is an idea of freedom that anyone can have and that we can all share, an idea of which we can all have our own vision. It is a job without prominence where egos are completely out of place. A true Anon, like any free human being, knows that learning is a never ending process. We cannot judge one doing more or less than the rest, it may annoy us but we must accept it. Before judging in that sense, we may think the following: if people do not follow your proposal it may be because it wasn't good enough. Self-criticism is paramount if you want to be part of this. We take care of this family, but we do not forgive our brothers with ease. We never get tired of testing the knowledge of each other and, as metal polishes metal, each Anon has to polish his brothers. When you trully are a part of Anonymous you become one more in a myriad of individuals without name nor face. They cannot attack you for your acts, for attacking one is attacking all of us, because none of us is as cruel as all of us. When we do not have a target we are stealthy as cats. When we have a target, we are furious swarm of wasps.
This is a call to all activists and intelligents trolls. Anonymous knows when to be serious and when to be lulzy. Use hacktivism to defend freedom and try changing the world, and use trolling in all its variants to have fun. We equilibrate the board, for example: leaking information, and we do it just for fun.
You are free of having your own idea of what this is. This is, accurately, the meta-agreement of Anonymous. Supporting this agreement does not mean only agreeing with its words. It's a call to action for everyone who is committed to act in some way. Learn about what Anonymous is, teach everything you could to anyone, and always remember this four simple words: you can do it.
Knowledge is free and it has to be with all its consequences. The Freedom of Information, and the freedom of spreading it, define our fight and our war; in this war, anonymity is our tool. Don't forget that the desert is made up of all sand particles, although we may only see those on the surface.
At this point, in the whole world, we are Legion. There is no doubt about it. The 99%, nothing more, nothing less. And there is much work as fun ahead.
If you found these words appropriate, don't fool yourself and act accordingly.
We do not ask anything, for we know you can give everything.
If you read up to here and you still have doubts it means that you are not ready yet.
The Hacktivism of today, shall define the freedoms of tomorrow.
