Don't know how popular this will be, but figured I'd give it a shot. For those of you who don't know, WoW is a MMORPG and a great place to waste a lot of your life. I started playing it about 6 months before the first expansion released. Account history says 4/24/06, but I played on my brother's account for a few months before then. Last time I logged on was probably January of this year just to give it one more change before leaving.

At the time I quit, I have 4 max level characters, 3 of them had the best possible items in the game. My main was a warrior though, one that I played since I started up.

In Vanilla WoW (before an expansion was released) there was a PvP ranking system based on the number of player kills you achieved each week compared to everyone else on your server. You would rank up (and down) depending on your placement for the week. AKA, the person who had the most player kills that week would progress the furthest in ranking up. Once you got to about rank 11 (there were 14 total ranks) you needed to maintain ~top8 on the server to continue to rank up each week and not down. When I finished I was rank 13 (Field Marshal) and had been running the group of players that I PvP'ed with for about 2 months. In order to achieve the most player kills for the week you needed to be farming for about 12-14 hours a day, everyday all week long. It took me about 4 months of this to hit rank 13 (I was top5 each week). After that I was hooked, even after the grind I still played an average of 4-6 hours a day. When they released competitive PvP (based on wins-losses) which they called Arena, I took up my hand at that as well. Eventually, during the 6th season, after coming close a number of times, I achieve the highest end of season ranking that you could (Gladiator). To be fair, you also got a special title if you were #1 overall, and I was friends with a couple of people who did this. The highest I ever managed on those ladders was #5, but I did not maintain it for the duration of the season. Of the 10+ million people that play this game, getting Gladiator (which equated to the top .2% of players) meant your team need to be about ~top50 give or take.

Anyway, it was some pretty good times, but the game has changed far too much and become too casual for my taste, so along with millions of others lately I canceled my subscription. Since then I have been focusing a lot more on real life. Have been progressing in my career and even am considering going back to school. In my opinion Warcraft was a huge waste of time, but I did meet some good people during the course of it and probably would do it all over again if I had the chance.

As I said, I don't expect this to get too popular, but if needed I can provide some game or account screen shots for proof.

AMA!

EDIT: It's top .5%

EDIT2: Have to go eat, sorry. Will check back tonight.
