that's the sort of thing that makes me call all crazy conspiracy theory. "How easy would it be for a government agency to anonymously discredit a protest movement by infiltrating and committing unlawful acts posing as protestors?"
I know nothing of the motivations of any protest in Seattle, so who knows.
Can you stop pretending that the statement "there were undercover police at the protest" means this photo is proof that undercover police instigated trouble as a false flag operation?
Actually, they're Vibram soles, very common soles found on a lot of boots. Have a pair myself. Treads are similar though, which I guess is evidence enough for everything.
The only evidence you guys have of police admitting "they were agent provocateurs after the evidence went public" is a statement saying "Yes undercover police were present at this protest" correct?
That isn't evidence of anything related to this photo at all.
I doubt they're even the same shoe. The one on the right has a low seam that's almost parallel to the sole, while the one on the top has the first seam much higher and angled.
All I can tell for sure is that they have Vibram soles. Vibram has been making soles in this style for 75 years, and they are used by over 1000 different manufacturers.
I don't think Vibram even makes such a boot themselves: if you go to their "Military & Law Enforcement" webpage, they only link to partners who make boots using their soles.
They are issue...You'd have to look pretty hard to find more than one pair in a surplus, much less a pair for you and your buddy (if they know each other) that fit you both.
Training exercise? Is there some context behind this picture?
They are issue...You'd have to look pretty hard to find more than one pair in a surplus
That doesn't mean they can't be nearly the same as regular production boots. You don't think the police issue boots are that different than any other ones, do you?

You do know the the manufactures who produce standard issue gear sell that very same gear to the public right? Boots are not military secrets that are illegal to sell to the general public.
They're being arrested at the same spot during a protest. They almost certainly know each other. And in case you haven't noticed from the OP's initial submission a lot of shit heads at protests like to shop for matching clothing together.
This kind of shit happens on a regular basis yet you will actively and fervently try to make me look like an idiot for suggesting they would infiltrate a protest to allow the use of gas and riot gear?

You think these two are in any way equivalent? I think you are making yourself look like an idiot.
NO REALLY?! THEY AREN'T ILLEGAL?! That's a cool story dude, if you can find me those boots that I can order less than a case of, I'll shut the fuck up and never come back to this thread again.

Oh hey look. Sarcasm. That good old fashioned protest of the weak.
You still haven't addressed the fact that the same boots that are standard issue to military type personnel are for sale in mass to the general public. Not only that but these personnel frequently supply their own equipment(boots in particular being very popular). The odds of two protesters wearing the same boots as a riot cop in a picture are pretty good. Hardly proof of a conspiracy.
It's not a conspiracy, it's a police tactic. for the love of fuck why is that such a crazy idea to you? I'm not saying all police do it, but it's been happening for hundreds of years. They go undercover to do EVERYTHING ELSE, and do illegal shit while they are under cover, but I suggest that all riots aren't started by asshole "anarchists," and you act like I said there's a secret base on the dark side of the moon.

No, police go undercover to gather evidence for use in prosecutions. They do not go under cover to incite riots to justify the use of tear gas and police brutality. How do you not understand how these two things are totally different?
If only there was some place that police or military gear could be sold when there is a surplus of it... The boots prove nothing, hell the picture has no context and could be a training exercise for all we know. I am not suggesting that the government never does shit like this, but there are a fuck ton of assholes in the world who just want to break shit, which is a far simpler hypothesis, occam's razor suggests assholes are the primary culprits.
Well, then there is the video where the police allowed them through the line to be neatly arrested after the protesters accused them of being provocetuers. Cops always break ranks for one or two thugs to go willingly in to be arrested with a minimum of fuss and no violence.
you'd be a little desperate to get a new outfit too, if 7 other people showed up to the same rally dressed EXACTLY like you.

Pretty fucking easy
Where is this from??
Undercover cops in Montebello
The shoulder badge on the guy in the bottom right has a fleur-de-lis on it, so maybe either France or Quebec?
When the G20 protests happened in Toronto a little while ago there were widespread accusations of this type of thing.
Quebec
England, I believe
ANother thing: Scott Walker admitted on a prank call (unbeknown to him) that he wanted to put "trouble makers" in to peaceful protests in his capital.
Nice pic, but this could easily be from a training exercise and not actual infiltration.
No this is actually real from a demonstration in Canada in 2007 (those are Quebec police badges in the photo)
Link here: http://www.canada.com/victoriatimescolonist/news/story.html?id=a9223b3b-9d36-4752-bd89-55c19aef6d50
In Québec we have a long history of the government using agents provocateurs. This is from the Montebello protests, some years back.
Actually this was in Montebello.
Or you know, more than one person could have purchased a pair of Doc Martens...
CRAZY. I mean it's not like the general public can purchase the same boots that police would use...oh err....
Yeah, Vibram soles are on thousands of types of boots.
Don't you think, in some crazy scheme to get rich, Doc Martins made more than one pair of the same shoe??
It wasn't a training exercise and they were police
Where does that say anything about that picture? Are you retarded?
Can you stop pretending that the statement "there were undercover police at the protest" means this photo is proof that undercover police instigated trouble as a false flag operation?
Actually, they're Vibram soles, very common soles found on a lot of boots. Have a pair myself. Treads are similar though, which I guess is evidence enough for everything.
Considering the guy has knee pads taped to his trouser legs, this is the most likely scenario.
I've seen quite a few black bloc people with such protection though
Vitation linked to this video that actually shows the incident the photograph is from. It's not a training exercise.
I'll go with the simplest answer. Looks to me like an undercover.
How is that the simplest answer? I wear the same cleats that C. Ronaldo wears. The simplest answer is that I play for Real Madrid right?
That picture is pretty well known, it's not a training exercise. It's the Toronto G20
I believe this is from the Occupy protests in Oakland
It's from a union protest in Canada.
No, this is from a well-known incident in Canada where it's blatantly obvious that the "anarchists" are police agent provocateurs. Watch the video and do your own research and you'll find it hard to deny the reality of the situation.
And if Canada is doing this shit, you can bet the US gov. is much worse.
I'm sorry those boots are evidence? Really? I can order an identical pair. I must be riot police.
Hey shitheads.
Doc Martens and Vibram are not only available to the police. If you think they are and that this proves anything I would suggest you not vote ever.
1) They were police issue only.
2) The police admitted they were agent provocateurs after the evidence went public.
It's a really, really well known case...
The only evidence you guys have of police admitting "they were agent provocateurs after the evidence went public" is a statement saying "Yes undercover police were present at this protest" correct?
That isn't evidence of anything related to this photo at all.
You need to show some actual proof. Not, "Hey look they have teh same boots!"
I have the same cleats as C. Ronaldo. This proves I am on the same team as he is.
Do you have any proof of that at all?
No. Okay, I'll remove my downvote when you provide proof.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2007/08/23/police-montebello.html
That does not prove that the photo there is of undercover police. Sorry Charlie.
I know you are smarter than this. Act like it.
Or not. But hey, if you're looking for boots to lick...
Trust me...this happened yesterday. Bystanders were running into stores to hide from the crazy people in black.
That picture was from yesterday?
TRUST HIM
Yep On the First of May...First of MAY...
Watch and wait for 1:04 if you haven't seen this.
And Komo breaking news kept ruining my daytime television session.
Annoying right? Professors at SCCC were stopping class and telling people who needed to go through downtown to leave class early.
A protester wearing the same brand of boots as a cop. What exactly is this supposed to prove? Aside from that mil surplus gear is popular with both.
I doubt they're even the same shoe. The one on the right has a low seam that's almost parallel to the sole, while the one on the top has the first seam much higher and angled.

and yet the protester only has duct tape over the logo on the bottom of the boot....
and the boots were obviously painted after purchase as well.
If it were some kind of grand conspiracy they wouldn't have sent out all their undercovers in the same brand of boots that riot police wear.
The duct tape and paint are just some idiot trying to make a fashion statement.
yeah you'd think that. But these are the same agencies (police depts) that routinely reject applicants for scoring too high on intelligence tests.
When you're all fired up to do a special assignment (regardless of profession), you probably forget little details too. I mean they're still people.
edit: also consider funding. They can probably barely pay the overtime required, you think theyd drop at least a hundo each on new, non-issue boots?
They WERE police though.
You have NO evidence of that. You have evidence that police were at the protest undercover - that is it.
You are smarter than this, act like it.
They are issue...You'd have to look pretty hard to find more than one pair in a surplus, much less a pair for you and your buddy (if they know each other) that fit you both.

How are they not? The cops go undercover and incite the behavior they seek to punish, in both situations.
NO REALLY?! THEY AREN'T ILLEGAL?! That's a cool story dude, if you can find me those boots that I can order less than a case of, I'll shut the fuck up and never come back to this thread again.

Quebec police admit they went undercover at Montebello protest!
Where in the article does it state that the undercover officers were involved with rioting at all?
oh look its a picture of a boot! that proves everything!
It's a police issue boot. Commissioned orders. You can't buy them from Zappos.
My college roommate had boots with the yellow centered sole. Not sure if the whole design was the same but they were black steel toe boots.
You cannot buy Doc Martens from Zappos?

Also proof - use of duct tape to cover up parts of shoe...
Well, then there is the video where the police allowed them through the line to be neatly arrested after the protesters accused them of being provocetuers. Cops always break ranks for one or two thugs to go willingly in to be arrested with a minimum of fuss and no violence.
Sure; I buy it.
That pic hurts my eyes
That is a picture of a Vibram sole, the best (and quite common). I have those soles on my flip flops. I am DEA!!!!!
Quebec, and it's no training exercise. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St1-WTc1kow
Ah yes. Doc Martens - only available for to the police.
That is exactly why every person wearing Adidas Sambas is a professional indoor soccer player. Shoes are not mass produced.
