I was given the wattgate 381 as a gift from my wife, I was not impressed with it. Yeah it was shiney and sure did look the part but come on, it is an outlet!!! I have a nice entertainment system so I thought I would give it a try, after installation I put in my favorite movie The Delta Force starring Chuck Norris, this time he killed everyone the good and the bad, it was so loud my ears are still bleeding. When the movie was over my TV exploded and Chuck Norris stood in the carnage. Then he picked up my wife and gave her the best rogering she has ever had (the doctors say she might be able to walk again after intensive physical theropy). Two thumbs way up!!

My quick thinking saved us, as I disconnected the power, making him vanish. Be very careful of this Horace Pinker, he is dangerous!

I've spent the last two years and tens of thousands of dollars assembling the "perfect" audio system for my listening room. With the Wattgate 381, I have finally achieved perfection. I long ago forsook listening to music. Because I'm more interested in how well my equipment performs, and because I was looking for a velvety black noise floor akin to what I expect one would experience in thee vacuum of deep space beyond Pluto (for that split second before you would freeze solid or pop from the lack of any atmospheric pressure, at any rate). With the Wategate 381 standing sentry between the aluminum wiring in my home and the substandard non-silver wiring running from the local power station to my step-down transformer, I have found that noise floor. The Wattgate 381 is even quieter than if I didn't even turn on my stereo in the first place. That's right, fellow enthusiasts. I switch on my stereo, and the room gets quieter. Given how well the system performs with 60 hz power, I've decided that I'll also audition 60 hz tones through my system because they'll be absolutely perfect sine waves. Silence or 60 hz. That's where it's at. Everything else is just extraneous noise. Thank you, Wattgate!

I've noticed a number of positive reviews for the Wattgate 381. Upon initial installation I found, much to my chagrin, that my home and utility company used predominantly sub-par copper wiring, defeating the entire purpose of the gold connections of the 381 unit.
Fortunately for me (but perhaps not all readers), during the recent economic downturn, I invested heavily in Gold Bars, and through substantial effort, have been able to convert these ingots into wire for my home. In addition, I tirelessly (yet successfully) lobbied my congressman and had an additional golden wire tapped deep into the core of my local nuclear reactor.
This is where inconvenience ends and pure entertainment bliss begins. The increase in power to my new outlet is like night and day when compared with my former antiquated system. I can confidently say through my own estimations that my former system slowed my electrical signal down. I have quicker boot times for my A/V units, and clearly see the advantages gold connectors offer to clunky copper counterparts. I am now confident that all of my top-shelf video and audio components will provide me with a superior entertainment experience now and in the future.

Used to work at Reliable Temps in Starke, Florida. Got called in to do clean-up at Union Cor. Inst. Turns out it was double execution. CO's had set up two electric chairs, side by side. Wired one with Wattgate 381 Audio Grade Duplex Socket, the other with regular economy duplex outlet. Chairs were set up on parallel circuit. When the warden threw the switch, the lights dimmed, and prisoner A with the economy duplex outlet jerked against the leather straps, broke his leg strap, and died in a cloud of smoke. Inmate B, with Wattgate 381 Audio Grade Duplex Socket, got pushed back in his chair, while his eyes, teeth, one lung, and a lot of blood went in the other direction. The proof is in the pudding. Excellent value for the money. I paid almost twice as much for two single channel outlets with monophonic power. Now I can get true dual channel stereo power out of ANY line cord with a full 60 Hz per channel. My only complaint is the leakage current in horizontal mode. Without a good set of power corks you can drain all the current out of your wires in a couple of hours. So mount the outlet vertically or if you absolutely need horizontal audio, get yourself a good sponge capacitor and mount between the ground plug and ALL! the speaker magnets.

I felt for a long time that my electrical outlets just weren't putting out the electricity my appliances deserved. After consulting several independent contractors in my town, they all suggested or rather, demanded- I purchase the Wattgate 381- it's audio grade components has been proven to be the industry leader in Duplex Socketry.
I purchased several of these against the advice of my wife- she said she had bad bad feelings. I reassured her that they were just Duplex Sockets. But later that night when she was fast asleep, I made my way downstairs to where the Wattgate 381's were installed. The smooth creamy white sockets, the gold plating, the cryogenically frozen components... it was exotic and at the same time, intoxicating. So beautiful. So hard. So soft. The plastic glistened as i ran my fingers over every inch of the socket. Feelings and urges came over me in pulsating waves. It was blinding.
The next thing i remember was being woken up to unholy screams from my wife. I was naked and curled next to 2 Wattgate 381 sockets on the floor. I don't remember what happened nor did i care. It was the first time in my life i felt free and alive.
My wife later gave me an ultimatum- either it was her or the duplex sockets. As much as i loved my wife... i had feelings for the Wattgate 381's- feelings stronger than a thousand suns.
The divorce has been finalized for a week now and i'm not the least bit sad- every night i sneak down to the living room and stare at the sleek hardness that surrounds me. I get shivers.

The other day I got home and noticed that my Wattgate 381 had arrived in the mail.
I put it on the counter, still in its box, and picked up the phone to order some pizza. When I was done, I was delighted to find my order waiting for me on the counter next to the 381. The 381 had overheard my conversation and kindly obliged.
As anyone would, I immediately tried "TEA, EARL GREY, HOT" and sure enough, a cup of steaming black bergamot infusion materialized before my very eyes. Disappointingly, a subsequent "LADY, HOT" did not yield the desired result. Apparently, the 381 can only replicate inanimate matter.
Still, reasonable value for money.

Straight from the horse's mouth
I bought this baby last week and boy oh boy was I eager to try it out. I plugged in my amplifier and IMMEDIATELY it started playing all my favorite tunes in crystal, pristine, glorious clarity, even though I haven't connected the amp to any audio source or even speakers. Then I noticed I hadn't even connected the socket to the power line.
Now I use this socket all the time. I carry it around with me wherever I go.
I just got through using my electric nose trimmer, listening to Bach on it all the while.

After hearing glowing reviews, I decided to buy these. Not having the money, I had to sell my Lamborghini to raise enough $ to refurbish my entire house. Wow it was definitely worth it. My iPod sounds better than a movie theater, my laptop got instantly overclocked to 11.5 Ghz, my battery charger recharges my cell phone in 30 seconds, and my dishwasher can clean with just plain water. Bought one last week. Can run three phase equipment with it, like 440 volt 10 hp 3ph 40 amp Baxter Whitney 52" woodworking planer. Just jammed the 10 gauge wires into holes. (Black in top neutral, red in top hot, yellow in bottom hot, brown in bottom nuetral ground in bottom ground)
Other good thing about this was playing music on shop stereo. Can hear it over machines now. It's like having the volume go up to 11 when it used to only go up to 10.

Oh my goodness, is all I have to say. This socket is just absolutely amazing. I replaced a burnt out socket with this one because I really liked how it looks, but there's more than meets the eye! I plug in my 32" CRT and it starts to buzz and smoke a little, so I run to get the fire extinguisher but when I come back my TV had transformed into a 64" LED back-lit LCD. I thought maybe I was going a little crazy, but then I put in my 1080P up-converting DVD player and it started to shake and spark, before my eyes it transformed into a Wi-fi equipped 100 disc Blu-Ray DVD Recorder. Best investment of my life.
Note: You need a get a few, depending on what you need to transform because when you unplug the items they go back to whatever they were before. I got 40 to replace every outlet in my apartment and it's well worth the $5600. Now all my kitchen appliances are silver and my washer and dryer talk to me. My bedside lamp monitors my eyelids and turns off when I fall asleep and my computer looks like a robot (it, actually may be a robot).

Once I installed these outlets in my sound proof listening room I truly became an believer. I have been a lifelong agnostic and while listening to one of the greatest classic artists of all time, (Weird Al Yankovic) I became a true believer in God.
There is no other way to describe the pureness of the audio devices hooked up to this outlet.
I let my wife listen and she literaly collapsed into a mass of jelly on the spot. Now, the mess was a pain to clean up but the sound was worth loosing her over. Don't be cheap, get the best. If you need to loose the wife, get these, they are that good!

I needed a new socket but was tired of always having to replace them monthly. I bit the bullet and decided that if i wanted the best, i would need to buy the Holy Grail of duplex sockets, the Wattgate 381.
Things worked great after i installed it- power seemed stronger, light seemed fuller, air smelled fresher- but one late evening after 12, i went to the kitchen and fixed 2 hot dogs. While eating, i noticed the Wattgate 381 seemed a little... "different"... so i gave it some bites of my dog- BAD MISTAKE. I did not read the fine print in the manual but if you feed it after midnight, it like real Gremlins, turns evil.
Needless to say, it detached itself from the wall and proceeded to go on a destructive rampage down the hall, turning over tables, chairs, breaking lamps and so on. It even urinated on my carpet!
I was able to chase it out of the house with a broom but it managed to key my car before it went screeching and hissing off into the neighborhood.
I learned that it is important to always read instructions before installing anything and will do so in the future.

I recently installed 4 Wattgate 381's (so i could get the $7 discount) in my home. Later that night i noticed a light shining from outside my kitchen window- it was a burglar. I was scared but as he waved the flashlight around, the beam landed on the Wattgate 381, causing a laser- a frickin' laser- to shoot out from it's socket hitting the intruder square in the eye.

Just a warning to any novices that are thinking of buying this product -- these sockets conduct inordinate amounts of current. I would not recommend attaching this to your wiring without a voltage transformer. It only takes about five microfarads to kill.

Since i installed those outlet all over my house my electrical bill went down 0$ a mounth, this is so incredible those outlet conduct the electricity so easily.
I was about to upgrade my power amplifier because of lack of power holly macro this outlet make my lloyd 20 watts feels like a Crown Itec 8000 a piece of junk, bass is so much tighter and i'm not even talking about the tweeters, i blew all the windows in my living room, i have to concider to install amoured windows now.

I do installations all the time so I get to use products that I don't have to pay for myself. The last job I did the home owner wanted a few of these. I don't get what good a 100 receptacle is and a $2000 power cord is when the wire in the wall is still NMD90? If you are going spend this amount of money you might as well go high grade the whole way. (Kind of like dropping a V12 engine in a Ford Tempo?)
The internal components are really no different then more expensive receptacles you can buy from a hardware store. The difference being that they are brass and gold plated...
Anyway, they work well for what they are.

As an audiophile, I've been a big fan of worthless add-on's and cash sucking doohickys for many, many years. I have an innate trust in the goodness of the market to guide me in making proper product decisions, such as my Shakti Stones and green ink CD marker pens that I keep next to the Tice Clock. An entire industry has been built on the backs of guys like me, and I'm damned proud of that. Damned proud.
But now I'm even more happy because the Wattgate has raised my audiophile experience to a whole new level of authority and acumen. After spending over $2,000 on new outlets, the difference I hear is nothing short of stunning and astonishing. Music sounds more like music. Quiet sounds more like quiet. The current flows so much more efficiently with these new outlets. Do they provide less resistance, less capacitance, and less inductance than my old outlets? No - but that is not the point. The point is that they sound SO MUCH BETTER.
Yes, these are heady times we live in. I'm so happy to have more stuff that greatly enhances the quality of our lives together. I just wish that all of you could HEAR what these outlets sound like.

When I first saw this marvel of technology I said to myself "I've got to replace all of my traditional outlets in my house with the amazing Wattgate 381." After purchasing the 22 new Wattgate 381s and installing them myself to save money because I'm thrifty, I realized I no longer have money to pay my bills. I now have 10 days to vacate and my power has been off for over a week. It's getting really cold and dark at home and I can only use the library computer for an hour before they make me go back outside. But I'm sure glad I have these swell new Wattgate 381's, they are sooo pretty and bright that I leave the outlet covers off to catch the glow from them. I bet they work really good too. You can see the reflection of my wife's tears in them if you lay on the floor near where the dog used to sleep before he ran away for warmer climate. I like to plug different things into the WattGate 381 and make sounds like we have electricity. The Wattgate 381 has claimed to be cryogenically tested and I have no doubts as it is nearly -5 degrees inside and they still look marvelous. My hour is up and maddog said it's his turn on the computer, I'm going home to my Wattgate 381s before he pees on me again.

Having experienced disappointing results from the trickle charger used on our lawn tractor, I asked my neighbor (an audiophile, Radon remediation expert and climatologist)for advice. Without hesitation, he directed me to these outlets. The results have been simply AMAZING. After installing a fresh battery and a Wattgate outlet, the charger seems to work much, much better. My friend assures me that the Wattgate outlet delivers clean UNDISTORTED 60Hz power so that the linear circuitry of my $25.00 charger can deliver as it should. It MAY be my imagination, but I believe that even the headlamps provide better definition now..., no doubt a consequence of the CLEAN charging current. Thanks Wattgate!

Sleeping Like a Baby from Unknown Location
I used my first Wattgate 381 to plug in my alarm clock, and I no longer toss and turn with worry that my alarm won't ring, and there is a richness of sound from the AM tuner that is remarkable. We bought 4 more, great price break, before Christmas, plugged in our tree, and it sparkles like never before. We gave one as a gift to my audiophile brother-in-law, who is always anxious that a cryogenically induced failure will damage his expensive equipment, and our generosity left him, "speechless".

Read the review behind this one. That guy needs his head checked. Cleary there is a reason and need for licensed electricians. Please do not do what he did. Your life (or someone else's)may depend on it.
This is a great product but extremely overpriced.
For all but the very few this product will not be a noticeable upgrade or improvement to your viewing or listening pleasure. Put your hard earned money toward a line surge protector/line conditioner first. You will be much happier with the results....

I have nothing but praises for this Wattgate Socket.
I did not install it in the wall as most probably do, but laid it out on the floor so I and my friends could admire its gold plating. I do not have children but my Miniature Schnauzer seems awfully scared by its wonderous beauty. He will not go near it, and that is good.
I once dropped a piece of tinfoil on it and its emissions lit up the room. The energy it released was such a powerful, spiritual event! I have tried several times since and have yet to observe the event with the same intensity.
Such a performer, this Wattgate!

I have a fine tuned tube amp. based system. My Ac cords already incorporate Wattgate plugs. I used this one to replace the Hospital grade one I was using in the wall. This new plug truly redefined the experience from listening my sound system. I get more deeper base and also additional details in the overall spectrum.

I just replaced every receptacle in my house with these, I cant believe how much better everything works, I especially notice a difference in the tone of the hum in my fish tank, and I get alot more bass in the beeper on the alarm on my microwave oven!!! I have also noticed that my vacuum cleaner has better midrange now. My friends are impressed!!!!

Behind acoustic treatment, AC power is the second most under-invested aspect of home theater. That said, is the electrical outlet one of the first 15 things to optimize in a home theater? Probably not. However, if you are building a dedicated listening room or home theater, why not install the best? Through the next 100 iterations of your home theater, this outlet will still be there doing its humble but critical job perfectly.
